Streamr for Fire TV
Streamr runs on Amazon Fire TV. Install it with the free Downloader app by typing the code 4156986, then sign in with a short code from your phone. It’s the same Streamr — your playlists, favorites and lists sync from your account — and the same $29/year plan covers it as one of your 10 devices.
Type this in Downloader
4156986
Or type getstreamr.app/apk. Both always get the latest Streamr.
What do you need?
- An Xtream Codes login or M3U playlist from your TV provider (or a Streamr account that already has one)
- An Amazon Fire TV running Fire OS 6 or later (Fire TV Stick, Stick 4K, Cube, Fire TV smart TVs); also Android TV 7.1+
- The free Downloader app
- A phone or computer to approve the sign-in (optional)
Streamr doesn’t sell or provide channels or playlists — bring your own from your TV provider.
How do I install Streamr on Fire TV?
Install Downloader
On your Fire TV, go to Find › Search, search for Downloader (the orange app by AFTVnews) and install it. It’s free in the Amazon Appstore.
Let Downloader install apps
Open Settings › My Fire TV › Developer Options › Install unknown apps and switch Downloader on. If you don’t see Developer Options, open Settings › My Fire TV › About and click your device name seven times, then go back.
Download Streamr
Open Downloader, select the address box, type the code 4156986 (or getstreamr.app/apk) and select Go. Streamr downloads in a few seconds.
Install and open it
Select Install, then Open. When Downloader offers to delete the download, choose Delete — Streamr is installed and the file is no longer needed.
Sign in with a code, or add a playlist
Choose Sign in and Streamr shows a short code. On your phone or computer, go to getstreamr.app/link (or scan the QR code), enter the code and approve. Your playlists, favorites and lists come across from your account. Or add an Xtream Codes login or M3U link right on the TV. Your 7-day trial starts on first launch.
Why install with Downloader instead of the Appstore?
Streamr for Fire TV is distributed directly from getstreamr.app, like the Mac app. Downloader is the standard, free way to install an app from a web address on Fire TV. You only do it once: Streamr updates itself after that.
How does Streamr for Fire TV update?
When a new version is out, Streamr shows Update available on launch. Choose Update and it downloads and installs itself. The first time, Fire TV asks you to allow Streamr to install apps: switch it on under Settings › My Fire TV › Developer Options › Install unknown apps.
Do I need another subscription for Fire TV?
No. One Streamr subscription ($29/year) covers up to 10 devices: Macs and Fire TVs together. Each Fire TV also gets its own 7-day trial with no account needed.
Which Fire TV devices work?
Any Fire TV running Fire OS 6 or later (Fire TV Stick, Stick 4K, Cube, Fire TV smart TVs); also Android TV 7.1+. Streams play with the device’s hardware decoder, so a Fire TV Stick 4K or newer is best for 4K and HEVC channels.
How do I sign in without typing on the remote?
Choose Sign in in Streamr on the TV. It shows a code like KQ7M-H4TD and a QR code. Scan it, or go to getstreamr.app/link on your phone and enter the code. Approve, and the TV signs in a few seconds later.
