For You is Streamr’s home screen: a hero carousel of featured titles, then rows for Continue Watching, your own channel lists, live sports, and new and top-rated movies and series.
How does Streamr organize a messy playlist?
Streamr reads every channel and category name and sorts your playlist into Live TV, Live Sports, Sports On Demand, Movies and TV Series. Along the way it:
- Cleans up names: provider decorations are removed and kept as badges (4K, HEVC, Dolby)
- Extracts years and countries from titles
- Detects countries and regions (UK|, US:, EXYU, language names) for filtering
- Hides empty “NO EVENT STREAMING” placeholder channels
- Turns dated event channels into a Live & Upcoming sports schedule
- Detects adult content and hides it, with an optional parental PIN
How long does setup take?
About a minute. Choose Xtream Codes, M3U link or M3U file, paste what your provider sent you — a full get.php link fills in the whole Xtream login — and Streamr connects with live progress, shows your account status and expiry, and asks which countries you want to see. What can I change in Settings?
Settings lives right in the main window (⌘,) with twelve sections:
- Playlists, Playback, Video and Audio
- Subtitles, with a live preview of the styling
- Buffering & Network
- TV Guide: refresh interval, time shift, custom XMLTV
- Content Filters, Parental Controls
- Appearance: Grape accent plus alternates, poster size, motion
- Advanced (raw mpv options) and Keyboard Shortcuts
Does it sync between Macs?
Yes. When you’re signed in, your playlists, favorite movies and series, and custom channel lists follow your account to up to 10 devices. Edits made on different Macs, even offline, are merged rather than overwritten.
Is it fast with big playlists?
Yes. Your library is cached on disk, so after the first connection Streamr opens instantly and refreshes in the background. The player is built on mpv and FFmpeg with hardware decoding and buffer profiles tuned for live IPTV.
Streamr doesn’t include channels. It’s a player for the Xtream Codes or M3U playlist you get from your TV provider. It doesn’t sell or provide channels, movies, series or playlists.
